Spoken punctuation

Say the word while dictating and the mark appears. Leave a field empty to switch that one off.

English and Russian come filled in. Other languages start empty — set the words your language uses.

Pick words nobody says by accident: a command word stops being typed as a word.

Keyboard

	start or stop dictation — click and press a new combination Needs Ctrl, Alt or Shift with a key, or an F-key. Ctrl+Shift+D always works too.

Some combinations never reach a page — the browser keeps them for itself (Ctrl+T, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+N, and on Linux Ctrl+Q).

Backup

Notes live in this browser only — there is no account yet. Clearing the browser's site data, or opening the page in another browser, starts from nothing. A backup is one file with every note and your punctuation words; restoring merges it into what is here and never deletes anything.

Automatic backup

Pick a folder on this computer once, and every change is written there as voice-typing-notes.json a couple of seconds after you make it. Cloud-synced folders (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox) work too. Chrome and Edge only.

When notes can be lost

Clearing the browser's history or site data ("Cookies and site data"), or a cleaner extension or app doing it for you.
An incognito window: everything goes when it closes.
Another browser, another profile, another computer, or a different address of this page — each has its own storage.
Reinstalling the browser or the system.

Privacy

Notes stay in this browser's storage and are never uploaded. Speech recognition is done by Chrome, which sends the audio to Google's speech service — this page has no server of its own and stores no audio.
